Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you based?
We are a home-based bakery in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. We make all our cakes and traybakes fresh to order so unfortunately we don't have products to buy on the day.

How do I order?
Simply visit the 'Contact us' page and in your initial message please include the date of collection (not the occasion date), how many servings are required, allergies or dietary requirements and any ideas you may have.

How much notice do you need?
It's best to get pencilled in the diary as soon as possible and designs can be finalised a few weeks before. We will always try and fit in last minute orders so please do always ask!

How much are your cakes?
Starting prices for bespoke cakes are below. All cakes have four layers of sponge inside and portions are approximate - it all depends how big you cut your slices! If it's just a token gesture piece, you could even get more out of them.

6" (feeds approximately 15-25) - £85
7" (feeds approximately 25-35) - £100
8" (feeds approximately 35-50) - £115

Toppers, fondant decorations, fresh and dried flowers are additional costs but these will be factored into the total cost quoted.
What flavours do you offer?
We offer the following sponge flavours and fillings:

-
Vanilla with raspberry or strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream
-
Chocolate with chocolate buttercream
-
Lemon with lemon curd and lemon buttercream
-
Coffee and walnut with coffee buttercream
-
Chocolate orange with chocolate orange buttercream
-
Chocolate with Nutella and chocolate buttercream

If no flavour is chosen vanilla sponge with jam and vanilla buttercream will be made.

How do I pay?
Payment is required in full via bank transfer and your order is not confirmed until payment has been received.
If you prefer to pay by card we can provide a payment link but unfortunately this method would incur a 2.5% fee. An order date may be changed if the new date is available.

Do you deliver?
We can deliver orders over £50 for free in Harrogate and Knaresborough, subject to availability. Orders under £50 will incur a £5 delivery charge - please ensure you will be in as we cannot leave food items.
If you are collecting, times are staggered so we kindly ask you be on time or let us know if you're running late.

Gift Orders & Cupcake Bouquets
If your order is a gift or a cupcake bouquet, please ensure that the recipient will be able to accept delivery as we cannot leave food items.

Cake Care
Please handle your cake with care and keep level at all times. Carry it flat by placing both hands underneath the box - holding the sides may cause damage to the cake.
Cakes should be transported in the front passenger footwell or in the boot of the car. In warm and hot weather, please ensure your air conditioning is on and that you have fridge space to store it. Drive slowly and avoid sudden stops and turns.
Unless stated otherwise remove the cake from the fridge 1 - 2 hours before serving - weather depending!

Cakes may contain non-edible items such as dowels, polystyrene balls, cocktail sticks, dried or fresh flowers so please ensure these are removed before consuming. If your cake has a topper please note that card, glues and glitter card are flammable materials so care must be taken to not allow it to get in contact with any flames.

Damages
Coopers Cakes & Bakes accepts no liability for any damage to an order after it has been delivered or when it has left our premises when collecting. Please follow the advice and guidance given regarding handling and transportation.

Do you offer Dairy and Gluten Free?
We can make gluten free cakes and cupcakes. For dairy free, please visit the vegan and dairy free page where you will find a selection of our traditional cakes and cupcakes. Unfortunately we don't do dairy free celebration cakes. Please note that we are not a gluten free kitchen so we cannot guarantee that our products have not come into contact with gluten sources.

Are you registered and insured?
Yes we are fully registered with Harrogate Borough Council and were awarded the highest hygiene rating of 5 in July 2020 and again in November 2023. We are also insured and have a Level 2 Food Safety certificate.
